OHSAA High School Football Playoff Score

RAVENNA — Here we go again.

Top seed Jesuit Walsh knocked off fourth-seeded Fitch 42-28 at Ravenna in the Division II, Region 5 semifinals.

The Warriors prize? A regional final rematch with Hoban (11-2) next week at a site to be determined.

Walsh got away with it.

A lot.

Keller Moten (16 carries, 125 yards, three TDs), Lucas Weaver (11 carries, 160 yards, TD), Carlos Smith (six carries, 71 yards, TD) and Marty Tobin (11 carries, 73 yards) ran all over the world. the Falcons (9-4).

So much so that Walsh averaged 11.6 yards per carry in the first half and scored on all five of his drives.

When the dust cleared, the Warriors marched down Ravenna’s field and gained 429 on 44 carries (9.8 yards per carry).

Moten (4 of 10, 40 yards) added a 23-yard touchdown pass to Milan Parris.

Deon’Dray Richard rushed for 205 yards on 26 carries and added a touchdown in the loss. Junie Higgs carried the ball seven times for 50 yards and two scores in the loss.

Walsh Jesuit goes up three scores against Fitch

Stop if you’ve heard this before. Keller Moten is good. Really good. The senior quarterback ran 25 yards and scored to make the score 42-21 with 3:05 left. Moten totaled 125 yards on 15 carries and three scores. He also had a passing touchdown.

Fitch scores late against Walsh Jesuit

Brady Evans scored on an 8-yard pass to make it 42-28 Walsh with 1:14 left.

The Warriors lead 35-21 after three, but Fitch has first and 10 at the Walsh 21.

Keller Moten hit Milan Parris on an inside route from 23 yards out. Walsh is 5 of 5 on drives and it’s 35-14 Warriors with 53.8 seconds left before halftime.

Deon’Dray Richard had a 56-yard run to set up a 3-yard run by Junie Higgs for a score. It’s Walsh 28, Fitch 14 with 3:21 left before intermission.

This is the 22nd time the Warriors have made the playoffs and the fifth straight season they have qualified. Walsh is coming off a 35-21 win over ninth-seeded Hudson. Third-team All-Ohio QB returns Keller Moten (93 of 169, 1,537 yards, 16 TDs; 113 carries, 1,079 yards, 19 TDs) leads Walsh. Marty Tobin (106 carries, 905 yards, nine touchdowns), Lucas Weaver (101 carries, 673, eight) and Carlos Smith (54, 486, eight) lead the rushing attack. The Warriors go to either Aiden Henry (39 catches, 558 yards, three touchdowns) or Milan Parris (26, 573, eight) in the passing game.

What you need to know about Fitch football

This is the 15th time Fitch has made the playoffs and the fifth straight season he has qualified. The Falcons are coming off a 42-21 victory over fifth-seeded Warren Harding. Third-team All-Ohio returning LB Rocco DiFlorio leads a Fitch defense that has held opponents to 17 points or fewer in seven games. LBs Dylan Krohn (11 tackles, sack) and Marky Fitzgerald (10, sack) combined for 6.5 tackles for loss last week and held the Raiders to 3.6 yards per carry. … Fitch is coming off a win in Week 12 in which he totaled 372 yards and averaged 9.1 yards per game against Harding.
