Seven years after the brutal death of a man walking home from the pub, detectives are still hunting his killer. Adam Ellison had his life ahead of him, he had no links to organized crime and was preparing to celebrate his 30th birthday.

He also planned to ask his partner to marry him, but everything was cruelly taken away from him by a thug on the back of a bicycle. Adam was walking home from the pub with a group of friends in the early hours of November 4, 2017, when an altercation broke out after a motorbike nearly crashed into them on Market Place in Prescot.

One of two men on a green and white Kawasaki KX 85 Big Wheel dirt bike stabbed Adam in the neck with an unknown weapon. The killers walked away towards a TESCO store on Sewell Street as friends and passersby rushed to Adam’s aid. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 2 a.m.

No one has been charged for the murder, and seven years later, his family is still waiting for justice after the senseless murder that ended a life far too soon. Adam’s mother, Joyce, told the ECHO last year: “When I walk past where he was trying to be resuscitated that night, I just see him on the ground. I see these people around him, they’re doing all kinds of things.

“One of the shops on that street had a blue roll out to try to stem the blood. They told us he had been injured and my husband and I went over there. We saw this blue ribbon and white, so my husband wanted to hide underneath and go see Adam, I was going to follow them and these two young police officers said “sorry sir, it’s a crime scene”.

“He said ‘that’s my son, that’s my son,’ and (the officer) said ‘sorry sir, we can’t let you do this, it’s a crime scene.’ My son was at a crime scene and I couldn’t even go to him. It’s heartbreaking. I want him to know that we were there with him.

Numerous lines of inquiry have been followed in the ongoing investigation and arrests have been made, but detectives are continuing to appeal for information. The Crimestoppers charity continues to offer a reward of up to £20,000 for information they receive exclusively that leads to a murder conviction.

Her family refused to appeal this year because they are not up to the task, heartbroken by the loss they suffered at the hands of a stranger. Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings said: “It is heartbreaking that the Adam’s ultimately did not get the justice they deserve.

“Seven years after his death, the pain of losing them is no less for his mother, father and sisters and we continue to do everything we can to support them, examine the evidence and follow any new leads. investigation. We know, as is often the case, that the key to solving this problem lies in our local communities. There are people who, for whatever reason, have chosen not to come forward and tell us what they know.

“It is to these people that I appeal: please search your conscience and put yourself in the place of a grieving family. If you have any information that could help you, please don’t hesitate to speak up. If you do not wish to speak to the police you can submit information anonymously through Crimestoppers, but please do not let those responsible for Adam’s death continue to walk our streets.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation into Adam’s murder can contact police via the public portal (mipp.police.uk) or by calling 101 or DM @MerPolCC. If you would prefer not to speak to the police, you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward by contacting the UK Crimestoppers contact center on freephone 0800 555 111 or by visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.
