Hims & Hers has introduced a new tracking system to monitor shortages of GLP-1 weight loss and diabetes drugs, in response to the FDA’s decision to discontinue compounded versions, Yahoo Finance reported on November 13.

THE tracker allows patients to report GLP-1 drug shortages by indicating their location and the brand of drug they cannot access. The company plans to aggregate this data and release updates to demonstrate to the FDA that supply shortages persist.

Andrew Dudum, co-founder and CEO of Hims & Hers, told the outlet that more than 80,000 users of the company’s platform have reported difficulty accessing these medications, a number that continues to grow.

This decision follows the FDA’s recent decision to remove tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, from its shortage list, and its ongoing evaluation of Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide products.

Mr Dudum argued that despite these statements, drugmakers have been unable to meet demand, with large wholesalers such as McKesson and Cardinal Health echoing concerns about long-term supply shortages , according to the report.
