It’s historic to have our own music streaming platform – Bawumia on the GMX app

Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) streaming platform represents a historic move for the country.

The Ghanaian music industry took a significant step forward on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with the launch of the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) streaming platform.

The event, held at the De Iconic Events Center in East Legon, was graced by entertainment industry players and government officials.

Notable participants included the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, and the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwesi Agyeman.

The entertainment world was also well represented, with stars like EL, Zapp Mallet, Hammer Of The Last 2, Appietus, Samini, Fred Kyei Mensah and Kaywa.

The event was further enlivened by a magnificent performance by the legendary traditional artist, King Ayisoba.

Speaking as the special guest of honour, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia hailed the launch of the GMX music streaming app as a historic moment for Ghana.

According to the NPP flagbearer, “this is a historic moment for Ghana… to have our own music streaming app… it is my distinct honor and pleasure to officially launch GMX, the music streaming app locally made in Ghana”.

GMX offers a complete music experience, showcasing the best of Ghanaian music, from timeless classics to contemporary hits. The platform caters to diverse tastes, offering a wide range of genres including highlife, hiplife, afrobeat and traditional beats.
