Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) said he thinks the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis (R), will choose Lara Trump to replace Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who President-elect Trump chosen to serve as Secretary of State.

“I think Lara Trump is the right person to replace him. It’s going to be difficult to replace. I met her when she worked at E Network and she is a hard worker; she’s committed,” Scott said during an interview Tuesday with “The Hill” on NewsNation.

“You look at what she did at the RNC during this election cycle, what a great job she did on election security, making sure we got out the vote. I think she will be a great partner and I look forward to serving with her,” the Florida leader told host Blake Burman.

Scott had previously supported Lara to replace Rubio shortly after receiving the nomination.

He encouraged Gov. Ron DeSantis to select the co-chairman of the Republican National Committee to represent the Sunshine State.

“It’s a big decision, and I think he’s going to choose Lara Trump because he knows she’s clearly qualified,” Scott said.

“She’s someone who would be welcomed in the state of Florida and someone who could win the election when she has to run in two years.”

Lara said she had not spoken with DeSantis but would be willing to take the seat »if we ask.”

Since his nomination, Rubio has been criticized by his colleagues for not showing up to the Capitol on Tuesday to vote, allowing Democrats to act at the last minute. judicial appointments in their last hour of power.
