Bruce Tate’s family calls for justice in emotional press conference

Arkansas Stop the Violence held a news conference Sunday evening for the family of Bruce Tate, a Sherwood man who was found dead early last week in North Little Rock after suffering multiple injuries.

A suspect has not yet been found in reference to the case.

Family members of the late Bruce Tate gathered at Shiloh Baptist Church in North Little Rock to send a message to whoever is responsible for his death and to everyone who knows what happened.

“Imagine, if this is your family, you want the problem solved too, and that’s all we’re asking for. You know, we’re asking for justice for our father,” said his son Courtney Tate.

Bruce Tate, 78, was a man known for his gentle spirit and love for his community.

“My dad was loving. He made us laugh. I was a daddy’s girl, so it affected me in a way that you know, the person who took him away from us will never, ever understand,” said his daughter, Reshonda Tate.

“There are so many different things that I wish I had said to him, you know, when he was alive, that I won’t get the chance to say now. My father was very loved,” Courtney said.

Bruce Tate was a man whose life was lost to violence, leaving behind a devastated family.

“You’re desperately trying to make sense of it. It’s the why we don’t understand. Why? Who? There are so many unanswered questions. Because if you had asked for his wallet, he would have given it to you. If If you asked for his truck, he would have given it. There was no need to brutally murder him. And that is why we are here today, in the midst of our grief, to appeal to the community. of Arkansas, which is our home,” Reshonda said.

Although the North Little Rock Police Department opened an investigation, Arkansas Stop the Violence helped Bruce’s wife and family speak to the public as they pleaded for help finding who was responsible.

“The snitch culture damages and destroys families because it’s our family today, our random family. So tomorrow it might be your family. It might be someone’s family one that you love. So we’re pleading for people to come forward, because, you know, I doubt this will be the last time they take someone’s loved one away,” Reshonda said. .

The family says that while there will always be a piece missing, closure is now what they want most.

“The man they took from us is a father, a grandfather, just a wonderful man, and it’s a void we’re going to live with for a very long time,” Reshonda said.

“It wasn’t even an accident, at least an accident, you know, we can understand that it wasn’t an accident. It was a bloody, premeditated murder. And not just murder, it was exaggerated. It was beyond exaggeration. “This was someone who didn’t deserve, whoever did this didn’t deserve to breathe another breath of free air,” Courtney said.

Bruce Tate’s memorial service will be held next weekend.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NLRPD tip line at 501-680-8439.
