House in Coimbatore: This 10,000 sq ft house is a tranquil symphony of tradition and modernity

Crossing the threshold, the entrance reveals a double height entrance hall flooded with natural light streaming in through the floor to ceiling windows. This space is crowned by a bold ocher staircase, an unexpected touch that enlivens the clean architectural lines. The juxtaposition of this shade with the playful blue pineapple pattern wallpaper of the dining room speaks to guests’ willingness to embrace the unconventional. The lobby is further anchored by a striking bust of Ravinder Reddy, adding a touch of contemporary Indian art. The wood-paneled ceiling and adjacent interior courtyard lead the way to what lies beyond.

A sense of cohesion flows throughout the home with seamless Kota stone flooring that connects different spaces together. Each piece embodies warmth, carefully balanced with just a touch of embellishment. Anchored in neutral tones, the design avoids sterility by incorporating art and craft accents: an artistic pendant light in the formal living room, a boldly striped armchair in the family room, and a meticulously restored antique rug on the first floor landing, a legacy. passed down from the customers’ grandmother.

The more private areas of the house convey distinct narratives. The master suite is a study in cultural depth and modern elegance, with wallpaper depicting cows amid lush trees and flora, a pastoral nod that pairs perfectly with contemporary furnishings. On the other hand, girls bedrooms tackle more playful themes: one is a tropical escape with banana leaf murals and vibrant bird motifs, and the other a study with textured micro-concrete walls accented by calming neutral tones with strategic pops of color.

Bathrooms, often utilitarian spaces in most homes, continue this attention to detail and design experimentation. The bathroom, with its depth terracotta Verdant green marble walls and countertop, strikes a balance between warmth and sophistication. A copper sink, perched on a minimalist iron frame, adds an element of industrial chic, while botanical artwork brings a touch of nature inside. The master bathroom, wrapped in red travertine, is both opulent and understated, bathed in natural light from a skylight that crowns the space.
