49ers find loss to Seahawks ‘infuriating’ but remain optimistic about team’s prospects

The core of players the San Francisco 49ers now have has never been a group that loses hope when the chips run out. That’s not about to change now, even if their outlook looks much bleaker than it did at the start of the day.

Heading into Sunday’s home game against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers were coming off a hard-fought road victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and were favored to win their third straight game. A win against the Seahawks would have put them at 6-4, which would have kept them tied for first place in the NFC West with the Arizona Cardinals.

The 49ers lost to the Seahawks, however, which put them in a three-way tie for second place in the NFC West with the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. What’s worse is that the game had the same types of struggles that the 49ers had shown earlier in the season, such as costly mistakes and blown leads, which are atypical for a team with their track record and potential. The fact that these issues (along with a number of injuries) still exist ten games into the season doesn’t exactly inspire confidence on the outside that the 49ers will end up looking consistently like the Super Bowl contender they ‘they were meant to be.

“It’s just infuriating, honestly,” the linebacker said Fred Warner said after Sunday’s loss, adding: “It’s not like us, but that’s exactly what we showed this year. So I guess until we stop doing that, then it’s is who we are.”

But even though the loss to the Seahawks may have hit some fans on the hopeful side hard, the 49ers still held their heads high Sunday. As is often the case when going through difficult times, optimism remains among the team’s players.

“I still feel like we’re a great team,” the cornerback said Isaac Yiadom said. “…I’ve been on 5-5 teams. Sometimes it’s like the confidence isn’t there and stuff like that, but I still feel like we’re a great team “We know what we need to fix. We know what we’re going to focus on this week and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

Defensive end Nick Bosawho after the game expressed uncertainty about his upcoming availability due to an injury that sent him to the bench against the Seahawks, suggested that now was not the time to worry and that if the 49ers could make the playoffs, they could do some damage.

“It’s a little difficult to think about the big picture right now, but we have a lot of games left and all we have to do is get out there and I definitely still have confidence.” , said Bosa.

Getting back into the win column won’t be easy for the 49ers, who now face the Green Bay Packers (7-3) and the Buffalo Bills (9-2) consecutively. With the real possibility that the 49ers must win the NFC West to make the playoffs, they will face a tough challenge on the road over the next two weeks without much margin for error. There will be an urgency to win this week and beyond to stay in the division race.

“I think our mindset is definitely to win every game,” the quarterback said Brock Purdy said. “And you have to take it one at a time. You can’t look too far ahead. The next stop is Green Bay, and we have to be all in and not look up. We just have to look down and do our job. “, get better as a unit, and we just have to find a way to win. It’s the NFL. It’s not easy, and nothing has ever been given to you. “

There’s obviously a lot to clean up for the 49ers in a short amount of time, and the team clearly has its back against the wall as it heads into the remainder of the November schedule. But they’ve faced long struggles in the past only to get hot and make the playoffs, so their confidence will likely remain, even if things get darker from here on.

“Yes, I will always have all the trust of the world and everyone we have in our building,” Warner said. “All the answers are here. It’s just about doing it.”
