Two groups of voters speak out after the 2024 presidential election

(WFSB) – Following the 2024 presidential election, where former President Donald Trump won, two groups of Connecticut voters spoke out Wednesday night.

The two groups had very different responses, but both demonstrated a sense of unity in unique ways.

At the New England for Trump store in Vernon, the atmosphere was full of enthusiasm.

Enfield resident Alexis Marshall was one of many Trump supporters who came to buy souvenirs to support the president-elect.

“We are a Democratic state for the most part, but I like that we can support Republicans as well,” she said.

Manager Kenneth Krajewski says the store welcomed more than 1,000 customers Wednesday in just a few hours.

“Today has been absolutely brilliant and the last three days before the election the store was also mobbed. I think it’s about uniting people and showing that we are America first,” he said.

In Hartford, there was a darker sign of unity.

The Immanuel Congregational Church held a vigil where dozens of people gathered to show support and share strength with those who were unhappy with Trump’s re-election.

Even though they think he has a disappointing past, they still hope for a better future and believe there is power in prayer.

“Tonight is the night of mourning, I think we will do this for a long time and tomorrow we will be working hard, working for justice,” said church member Cori Mackey.

“We pray and hope that he will have a softened heart and see and use the power of his office to make a difference in the lives of ordinary people,” said Rev. Dr. Jay Terbush.
