Mookie Betts didn’t hesitate to let two Yankees fans know they made a mistake.

Two determined Bronx Bombers fans along the right field wall aggressively attempted to remove Gleyber Torres’ foul ball from Betts’ glove in the first inning of Tuesday’s World Series Game 4 in a shameful scene that saw spectators quickly ejected from Yankee Stadium.

“I just kind of see the ball – I don’t mean (going) to win, if that makes sense,” Darren Capobianco told The Athletic from his brother Austin’s interference in the room. “And then Mookie was swearing at us. Not good. »

Anthony, a Connecticut resident, told the outlet via text message: “I just want to watch the game. »

If he was able to see out the rest of the season with an 11-4 win, we don’t know from where.

His inability to keep his hands to himself in the moment earned Torres an automatic takedown for fan interference.

That meant Austin Capobianco — and the overzealous fan next to him (not his brother Darren) — missed Torres’ monster eighth-inning home run, a three-run blast that opened the floodgates on the opening win Yankees in the World Series.

Betts would not rehash the incident, telling reporters he was not injured.

“I didn’t even know he grabbed my hand,” he said. “It’s perfectly fine.”

If there were any lingering feelings, the eight-time All-Star didn’t let on.

“When it comes to the person and the game, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “We lost. It’s not relevant. I’m fine, he’s fine. Everything is cool. We lost the game, that’s what I’m focusing on. Turn the page and prepare for tomorrow.

Capobianco has earned a place in the heart of at least one other Yankees fan with his intensity.

“I saw him come out,” one fan told The Athletic. “I told him he was my hero for trying to save the Yankees. It’s the championship game.
