Relatives pay tribute to 19-year-old pregnant woman and her indicted boyfriend

LANSDOWNE, Pa. (WPVI) — “My heart hurts because I just want to know why? Why was my daughter murdered? Why did she have to go out like that?,” Tylicia Bell said.

This question preoccupies Tylicia as she mourns the loss of her only daughter Tanyiah Bell, who turned 19 two days before she was murdered.

“She was 8 months pregnant and about to give birth, and now the baby is fighting for his life in the NICU,” Tylicia said.

Lansdowne police said Tanyiah was found with a gunshot wound to the head in her Wycombe Avenue apartment on Nov. 14. Tanyiah died in hospital.

Doctors delivered her little girl who remains on life support.

Police arrested Tanyiah’s boyfriend, Kaiheem Williams, 19, and charged him with the murder.

According to the criminal complaint, Williams told police he was smoking and “passed out.” His next memory was calling 911 from Tanyiah’s phone because she had been shot. Police did not recover a weapon, and Williams denied removing a gun from the apartment.

“She was an innocent young woman trying to make her way in the world,” said her grandfather, Leon Miller. “I hope other people look at this and check themselves. If something doesn’t feel right, walk away, walk away.”

Family and friends honored Tanyiah Saturday afternoon at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill, where she was a hardworking student and cheerleader.

“I just wish we could say our last words to her and encourage her one more time and just be with her because she was a great spirit and the sweetest person ever,” Sameeya Andrews said , her friend.

Loved ones said they still feel Tanyiah’s spirit through her daughter who looks just like her.

“It’s called Tanyiah Miracle because I feel like she’s going to be our miracle,” Tylicia said. “She wanted to be a NICU nurse. I just know my daughter is at the bedside praying that her baby succeeds. I know she is.”

Tylicia hopes that one day she can bring her granddaughter home. Waiting for,

she fights to get justice for her daughter.

“She didn’t deserve to die like that,” Tylicia said. “She didn’t deserve to get shot in the head. She didn’t deserve this.”

The family said November 30 would have been Tanyiah’s birthday, but now is the day she goes to rest.

Donations are now being collected for the family.
