The Zutons will cover Amy Winehouse at Radio 1 Live Lounge

BBC Radio 1’s Rickie, Melvin and Charlie today announced that legendary British band The Zutons will close Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month 2024 on Wednesday 30 October with an extra-special performance of Amy Winehouse’s award-winning track Back To Black and their iconic hit. Valérie, to celebrate 25 years of Live Lounge.

In 2007, Amy Winehouse performed Valerie at Radio 1 Live Lounge, which became one of her best-known tracks, and in August it was named the number one Radio 1 Live Lounge cover of all time . The Zutons are back at the Live Lounge to return the favor.

The Zutons say: “We were blown away to learn that Amy’s brilliant version of Valerie was voted the number one Live Lounge cover of all time, but she was such an incredible artist with such incredible vocals that it didn’t matter. shouldn’t really be a surprise. at all. It’s a real honor and fills us with pride, and the fact that we’re on Radio 1 doing a cover of her is like coming full circle. I hope we can do it justice!

That’s why the Zutons will close out Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2024 month, on this special 25th anniversary. anniversary year, seems to be the perfect tribute to the legacy of the Live Lounge – a place where iconic musical moments are created and celebrated.

The Zutons’ Live Lounge performance can be heard on Radio 1 and BBC Sounds on Wednesday 30 October at 12pm and can be viewed on demand on Radio 1’s BBC iPlayer and YouTube channels.

This special performance will cap off a mammoth month of live music on Radio 1, which has seen some of the world’s hottest artists take to the world-famous stage, including: Camila Cabello, FINNEAS, JADE, Fontaines DC and many more . This year, Radio 1 is celebrating twenty-five years of the iconic Live Lounge. Over the years, some of the biggest names in the world have performed with alumni, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Noah Kahan. Past Live Lounge tracks from Miley Cyrus, 30 Seconds To Mars, Dua Lipa and Bruno Mars have attracted more than 50 million views each on Radio 1’s YouTube channel.
