HGTV’s Jasmine Roth gives update on premature baby after tumultuous birth

HGTV star Jasmine Roth gave fans an update following the dramatic premature birth of her second child, Darla, who was born a month early and weighed 4 pounds 8 ounces.

Take to his Instagram over the past week, the Help! I destroyed my house And Hidden potential The star introduced her subscribers to baby Darla, who was born prematurely on September 7. Roth already said People giving birth was a “terrifying” experience as she and her husband, Brett, were having dinner when her contractions started and then got stuck in traffic on the way to the hospital.

Now the family is home and getting back into the swing of things. In an October 28 post, Roth shared a series of photos of the newborn, alongside her other daughter, Hazel, and her husband.

“Maternity Leave: Part 1,” Roth wrote. “We brought Darla home from the hospital after 15 days. Yeah! Hazel stayed with her grandmothers and uncle and visited us daily, but it was still very difficult to be away.

“And when I say we came ‘home,’ we actually went to an Airbnb because our house in Utah wasn’t finished and with Darla arriving a month early, we didn’t have had the chance to move. But I’m not complaining! Home is where your people are,” she continued.

Roth went on to say that Hazel “is the best big sister” and that “Darla loves her attention.” She also gave an update on her health, explaining why Darla had a feeding tube attached.

“If you’re like me, this was new territory since I’ve never had a premature baby before. It’s basically a tube that goes up to his stomach through his nose,” she explained. “The milk (see photo 13 for source!) goes through the tube and straight into his stomach. Because Darla was born so small, it took her a while to grow strong enough to eat a full meal.

She continued: “The hospital staff trained us and each feeding lasts about 45 minutes as she eats from a bottle/nurses and then we slowly feed her through a tube. It’s a slow and long process…good thing she’s cute!

Roth then shared a video on October 31 of Darla having her feeding tube removed. In the caption, she wrote about her experiences with premature birth.

“It may sound strange, but it took me a few days in the hospital to realize I had a ‘premature’ baby,” she said. “Obviously I knew Darla was born a month early and was in the ICN (low-level NICU), but it took a while for that to sink in. It’s crazy, but in as a mother you see the perfection and don’t even notice the tubes, sensors and equipment I really didn’t think she was a “preemie” and when I realized it, I remembered. a feeling of fear that overcame me.

She added: “The day she released her hit may not seem like such a big deal, and I apologize for the slightly disgusting video, but as the mom of a preemie (a title I carry with pride now), that day was everything. Tears of joy, lots of smiles and gratitude for all the doctors and nurses who have taken such good care of our little girl so far. THANK YOU! Now the focus is on growing and feeding (without a tube) and we are so excited.
