Don’t get sick before getting a health check – EOCO boss urges female leaders

The Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Ms.), has urged women leaders to prioritize their health by undergoing regular medical check-ups.

She advised them not to wait until they fall ill before undergoing a medical check-up as it could affect their well-being, emphasizing the need for them to do so regularly.

Speaking at a women’s leadership development course organized by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), COP Tiwaa highlighted that health was the cornerstone of lasting energy, focus and resilience in their professional and personal lives.

“Don’t get sick before you have a health check-up,” she advised, emphasizing the need for individuals to be mindful of their food choices.

The two-week event, which ends on November 15, 2024, brought together leaders of security services and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

The course aims to equip women leaders with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively address the challenges of their sector.

Participants participate in interactive sessions and workshops designed to foster collaboration and innovative thinking among emerging leaders.

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center has played a central role in promoting gender equality in leadership positions within the peace and security sectors in West Africa. By investing in women’s leadership development, the center seeks to strengthen regional stability and security.
