Jacqui Felgate launches into ‘completely unacceptable’ Triple Zero emergency breakdown

Jacqui Felgate has launched into the “totally unacceptable” Triple Zero emergency outage which occurred across the state yesterday.

The Triple Zero computer and dispatch system were offline for nearly two hours between 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, with fire departments unable to keep up with their fleet and dispatchers having to resort to pen and paper for this chaotic period.

“It’s a third world thing and it’s unacceptable,” the 3AW Drive host said.

Victorian Ambulance Union assistant secretary Olga Bartesek detailed what it was like for paramedics and call takers during the outage and called for a backup computer system for future outages.

And station officer and United Firefighters Union representative Doug Lukic also expressed frustration at the state government’s “inaction”.

“This is simply another example of inaction and negligence on the part of the Emergency Services Minister and the Allan government,” Mr Lukic told Jacqui Felgate.
