This year’s summer marked five years of that promise – and it was one of the most water-scarce years Marathwada has faced, Ramesh said.

More than 600 villages and 178 hamlets in Marathwada depend on water tankers amid acute shortage of drinking water, he said.

“Only 19% drinking water remained in the reservoirs. What has the BJP done to tackle water shortage in Marathwada? Will the non-organic PM ever take responsibility for his failures and of those of his party?” the Congress leader said.

He also asked why Indian Railways was performing so poorly in Nanded division.

The railway infrastructure of Nanded division, which serves many parts of Marathwada, has been subjected to gross negligence by the Modi government, he alleged.

“According to data provided by the South Central Railway (SCR) in 2021, Nanded has only 35 km of road electrification and only 83 km of doubled tracks.

This puts it at the bottom in terms of electrification and barely ahead of the bottom in terms of track doubling compared to other SCR divisions,” Ramesh said.
