Donald Trump plans to win two battleground states – as path to victory narrows for Kamala Harris | US News

Donald Trump appears to have the advantage in the race for the White House as he is expected to win the first two crucial swing states.

Kamala Harris is still in the running to become the first woman to become president of the United States, but her path to victory appears to be narrowing.

The two men came neck and neck in opinion polls and early projected results revealed no major surprises.

Victories were predicted for Mr. Trump in red states like Florida and Texas and for Ms. Harris in Democratic strongholds like New York and Massachusetts.

The election is expected to take place in seven Battlefield States as Mr Trump, 78, and Ms Harris, 60, seek to reach the goal of 270 electoral votes to become president.

According to NBC News, Mr. Trump should win North Carolina And Georgiabut Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania And Wisconsin are still too close or too early to call.

Democrats have not won in North Carolina since 2008, with Mr. Trump winning the state by a margin of 74,483 votes, or 1.3 points, in 2020.

Georgia is a typical red state, where Joe Biden became the first Democrat to win, by a small margin in 2020, since Bill Clinton in 1992.

Concerns are growing within Ms. Harris’s camp, even as her campaign chairwoman, Jen O’Malley Dillon, told staff the race was “razor thin” but “exactly what we were preparing for.” ”, while optimism rises among Mr. Trump’s supporters.

His path to victory now appears to depend on winning the three so-called blue wall states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

With votes still being counted, Mr Trump is currently projected to win 246 electoral votes and Ms Harris 189.

Mr. Trump is also currently ahead 51.6% to 46.9% in the national popular vote, which he lost in 2020 and 2016.
