La Liga giants Real Madrid were dealt another blow on the personnel front on Saturday.

This comes as key defender Éder Militão suffered a torn ACL.

Militão, for his part, was present from the start of the day, as Real Madrid welcomed Osasuna to the Spanish capital for a La Liga match.

En route to an eventual 4-0 defeat for Los Blancos, the Brazil international lasted just half an hour.

After getting his foot stuck on the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu, Militão immediately found himself on the ground, letting out a loud cry as he went down.

As players from both sides gathered around the goalpost, it quickly became clear that his problem was serious, with the host medical team eventually loading Militão onto a stretcher before carrying him away.

And as we mentioned above, in the hours that followed, the worst was confirmed.

According to a statement posted on Real’s website and social media, just over a year after tearing the ACL in his left knee, Militão suffered the same thing to his right knee:

“Following the examinations carried out today on Eder Militão by the Real Madrid medical service, the player was diagnosed with a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament with damage to both menisci of his right leg. Militão will be operated on in the coming days.

The 26-year-old joins teammates David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Joan Martínez on the sidelines with respective ACL injuries.
