Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch, inaugurate and lay the foundation of several healthcare projects worth around Rs 12,850 crore, today, October 29, 2024. Held at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, this event coincides with Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, celebrating India’s ancient medical heritage.

In a historic step, the Prime Minister will extend Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to provide comprehensive health coverage to all people aged 70 and above, irrespective of their income, in line with his vision of access to health care throughout the country. .

Marking a major development in the Ayush sector, PM Modi will inaugurate phase II of the All India Institute of Ayurveda. This new phase introduces a Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, a sports medicine unit, a central library, an IT and start-up incubation center and a 500-seater auditorium, making it a premier institution for Ayurvedic studies and treatments in India.

INAUGURATION OF NEW MEDICAL COLLEGES AND EXPANSION OF AIIMS FACILITIES

The Prime Minister will further strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure by inaugurating three new medical colleges in Mandsaur, Neemuch and Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, thereby improving medical education and accessibility to healthcare in these regions.

Additionally, extensions of services and facilities will be introduced at AIIMS centers in Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), Kalyani (West Bengal), Patna (Bihar), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Guwahati (Assam ) and New Delhi. .

The improvements include a new Jan Aushadhi Kendra and expanded health services to benefit a wider population.

In Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a super specialty block at the Government Medical College, alongside an ICU block in Bargarh, Odisha.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for five new nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), with plans to create 21 ICU blocks in the Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan.

EXPANSION OF ESIC HOSPITALS, DRONE-BASED SERVICES AND DIGITAL HEALTH INITIATIVES

Strengthening India’s healthcare network, Prime Minister will inaugurate an ESIC hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and lay foundation stones for additional ESIC hospitals in Faridabad (Haryana), Bommasandra and Narasapur (Karnataka), Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) , Achutapuram (Andhra Pradesh). ), and another in Indore.

Expected to benefit around 55 lakh people under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme, these projects aim to expand access to healthcare to insured workers and their families.

To harness cutting-edge technology for healthcare, PM Modi will launch drone-based healthcare services at 11 higher education institutions including AIIMS facilities in Rishikesh, Bibinagar, Guwahati, Bhopal and Jodhpur, among others, thereby improving the provision of medical resources in remote areas.

Additionally, helicopter emergency medical services will be launched at AIIMS Rishikesh to ensure rapid response in critical situations.

To support maternal and child health, the Prime Minister will introduce the U-WIN portal, a fully digital immunization management platform aimed at ensuring timely vaccination of pregnant women and children against 12 preventable diseases.

To strengthen health resilience in the face of climate challenges, Prime Minister Modi will also unveil ‘Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan’, a national health awareness campaign, as well as a state-specific action plan on climate change and human health, aiming to create climate-resilient health systems. across India.
