Kraken Trio: three for three at home

The two-goal advantage lasted less than two minutes as a familiar face, original Kraken forward Ryan Donato, scored his eighth goal of the young season, following up his own shot for a rebound that put end to the shutout of SEA goalkeeper Joey Daccord.

Daccord wasn’t very busy overall – he faced just 14 shots on goal midway through the third period – but he made a Grade A point-blank save on Lucas Reichel just moments into after Chicago’s score. After eight minutes, Daccord repeated the heroics with a sliding save on a wide-open Jason Dickinson.

Eberle leaves the match in the second period

On his first shift in the second period, Kraken captain Jordan Eberle crashed into the offensive zone goal boards and didn’t get up for more than a minute. He needed help from coach Justin Rogers to get off the ice and down the tunnel. The team announced that Eberle was being evaluated for a possible lower-body injury and his return was deemed questionable. He did not return and there was no official word after the match.

With all fans wondering about the availability of newly acquired striker Daniel Sprong, Dan Bylsma said after morning practice that the team is still hoping to have the former 21-goal scorer arrive by the weekend .

Best start, Puck Karma for Beniers

Dan Bylsma hasn’t liked the first few periods of the last four games much, dating back to a road loss Sunday afternoon in Boston. The first 20 minutes of Thursday were better. The visiting Blackhawks managed just three shots on goal. Seattle generated some offensive zone pressure and puck possession, finishing the period with ten shots on goal, two of which were high-danger chances according to Natural Stat Trick.

Less pleasant for the Kraken head coach was a power play that almost lasted two minutes without a shot on goal. Matty Beniers fired a zinger with one second left on the power play clock, beating veteran Chicago goaltender Petr Mrazek, but unfortunately the attempt rang off the metal of the left post. Mrazek was praised all fall for keeping his team in games and he continued that trend here in the first half.

The hockey gods served puck karma to Beniers midway through the period. Forward Oliver Bjorkstrand, replacing captain Jordan Eberle, collected the puck at center ice and passed it to Jared McCann, who drew defenders before slipping the puck to Beniers. The Kraken center did not miss a screaming shot to raise the decibels of the Seattle faithful.
