PS5 Pro unboxing video

The leaked PS5 Pro unboxing video, which appears to have been filmed at an electronics store, gave excited gamers a glimpse of the PS5 Pro days before its official release. The video, approximately seven minutes long, offers a detailed look at Sony’s latest console and its packaging. True to form, Sony has opted for a familiar presentation: the console arrives in a sturdy cardboard box wrapped in the classic PlayStation brand exterior.

Inside, the video reveals a collection of cables and, after some suspenseful preparation, the PS5 Pro itself. The design is unmistakably Sony, with subtle refinements that give the device a more polished appearance than its predecessors. The video notably highlights the console’s removable disk drive, a feature that adds flexibility for users who prefer physical media. It should be noted that the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc player will be available for separate purchase.

What to expect from the PS5 Pro

Sony has promised that the PS5 Pro will bring significant advancements over the standard PS5, focusing on power and graphics capabilities. According to the company’s announcements, the PS5 Pro has 28% faster RAM and a more powerful GPU, paving the way for sharper visuals and smoother gameplay. The addition of advanced ray tracing and AI-based scaling aims to elevate gaming experiences to new heights, especially for titles that demand high performance.

Lead architect Mark Cerny, speaking at the State of Play event in September this year, highlighted Game Boost technology as a major feature of the PS5 Pro. This upgrade will improve over 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games, delivering more consistent frame rates and improved performance. Additionally, select PS4 games will benefit from improved image quality, providing better resolution and visual clarity for players looking to revisit their favorite classics.

In terms of connectivity, the PS5 Pro stands out by introducing support for Wi-Fi 7, ensuring faster and more reliable internet connections for people living in supported regions. This improvement, combined with support for 8K gaming and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), promises ultra-high definition graphics with smooth gameplay, appealing to gamers looking for the ultimate home gaming setup.

Top game developers have already joined us to optimize their creations for the new console. Hit titles like Alan wakes up 2, Assassin’s Creed: ShadowsAnd Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are ready to receive free updates that will exploit the superior capabilities of the PS5 Pro. These updates, marked with the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, will make it easier for gamers to identify which games will offer optimized performance.

Rumors are also surfacing that the PS5 Pro will come with an additional 2GB of RAM, which would further improve its performance.

Sony releases Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 Pro trailer

Sony also released the enhanced trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Official PS5 Pro. The video, lasting 1 minute and 49 seconds, shows the world of Spider-Man with better graphics. It also promises better ray-tracing and less compromise on graphics quality when playing in performance-enhancing modes.

Bryan Intihar, Senior Creative Director at Insomniac Games, could be seen saying in the trailer that in this generation of consoles, players can choose how they want to play the game and that’s awesome. “The challenge is whether we deliver on the promise of this character in this franchise playing either in fidelity mode or in performance mode”

Jacinda Chew, Senior Art Director, said: “We want to put as much detail into the characters and environments as possible.” She added that players will experience an “incredibly reflective world” with Spider-Man 2 enhanced for the PS5 Pro.
