Venom: The Last Dance Screenwriter Reveals How THIS Tom Hardy Ft. Ryan Reynolds Mention Made It Into the Movie

Looks like Tom Hardy already had a hand in nominating Sexiest Man Alive. Before the release of Venom: The Last Dance, Hardy and the film’s screenwriter spoke about a joke in the film, which appears to have a connection to the star in real life.

The joke is an actual scene from the film, when Hardy gets dressed to enter a Las Vegas casino and his symbiote friend Venom explains to him how he could win PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive award.

Well, speaking to the outlet, the actor and screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, detailed this particular version of the film, with Hardy stating that the scene’s dialogue was intended to throw him “under the bus.”

For those who don’t know, Marcel wrote the screenplay for all three Venom films, while also serving as director for its third entry. According to her, it was her “trouble” with the main actor.

Stating that Marcel was up to something naughty while writing the script, the Mad Max: Fury Road star also explained how the joke was related to his 16-year-old son Louis.

According to Tom Hardy, Louis continues to “bring up Ryan Reynolds for winning the sexiest man alive award.”

The Bikeriders actor then went on to say that his son always asked him if he had “ever won the Sexiest Man Alive Award?” also telling Hardy that he is not Ryan Reynolds.

During the interview, the Black Hawk Down actor then added that he could have told Marcel about his son, which is why the director could have put him on the big screen.

While speaking to the outlet, Kelly Marcel even mentioned that Tom Hardy deserved the title, while adding that it was her “campaign” for him.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also joined Hardy in the third installment, also agree that Hardy should win the title.

Temple explained while speaking to PEOPLE that the way the Child 44 actor plays both an alien and a human surely makes him “sexy,” also calling him a “gorgeous guy.”

Venom: The Last Dance This may be the last time we see Eddie Brock and the symbiote together.

According to the official synopsis, the two will be hunted by their worlds, ultimately putting them in a situation where they may have to say goodbye.

Venom: The Last Dance is in theaters now.
