“Human vs. Hamster,” produced by Chip and Joanna Gaines, premieres Nov. 21 on Max.

No battle is too big Human vs. Hamster!

About the upcoming offbeat competition series, produced by Chip and Joanna Gaines and airing on Max, the “world’s most remarkable pet hamsters” will compete against teams of humans to determine “which species is superior.”

Hamsters and humans will take on challenges that will “test their speed, strength, agility – and, of course, their eating prowess,” according to an official synopsis. The team that comes first will then enter “an epic obstacle course – The Cage – where they must escape before the hamsters to win”, according to the synopsis.

In the trailer for the new light-hearted series — hosted by Saturday evening live Cast member Sarah Sherman and football commentator Kyle Brandt, the hamsters take on humans in a series of furry-style challenges.

“Gather around mammals, great and small,” Sherman begins and Brandt interjects: “This is a battle of the Titans.”

“Welcome to Human vs. Hamster. The ultimate test for declaring the ultimate species,” Sherman adds. “Who reigns supreme, will it be the human or the hamster?”

The two men are then joined by hamster enthusiast Brian Balthazar, who asks: “Did you know that hamsters sweat down to their feet?”

“Same, Brian, same,” Brian responds.

Brandt explains that the competition will consist of teams of humans taking on “the ham stars.”

“If these hamsters are listening, we’re here to educate and dominate,” one human contestant proclaims, while another adds, “We’re going to show these hamsters that the only blouses here are the ones we wear.”

It’s not humans who engage in trash talk. The trailer’s captions show the hamsters’ inner thoughts.

“Prepare to lose to dirty humans,” notes one, while another adds: “I will devour the competition.”

The eight-episode series will feature themed episodes including: “Teachers vs. Nurses,” “Trivia Kings and Volunteer Queens,” “Weekend Warriors and Theater Kids,” “Wrestlers and Lawyers,” “Rhode Island Firefighters and New Jersey Firefighters.” “Magicians and Dancers,” “Flight Attendants and Tooth Fairies,” and “Singing Elves and Christmas Candy Clerks.”

Chip Gaines has previously spoken about finding inspiration for the new Max series by watching Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce during the Conversation with Chip & Joanna Gaines event at PaleyFest NY 2024 on October 21.

“I was watching Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce, and somehow, maybe…Kelce, back in the day, ripped off his jersey at a big football event or something after retired,” he shared. “Is everyone familiar?” All right? And I just thought, you know what would be funny? Humans versus hamsters.

“Willie Nelson says he wrote some of his most famous lines literally in 15 minutes, as in you know, the way from point A to point B,” he added. “I feel like that was my point of inspiration. Watching Kelce rip his shirt off.
