Apple’s India revenue hits record high as iPhone 16 sales surpass iPhone 15; CEO Cook Announces Four New Stores

Apple announced record revenue for its latest quarter, driven by strong global iPhone sales. CEO Tim Cook highlighted India’s role in this success, noting that iPhone sales in that country have reached an all-time high.

“We remain excited by the enthusiasm we are seeing in India, where we set a record revenue in the September quarter,” Tim Cook said on an investor call.

Beyond iPhones, Apple’s iPad has seen robust growth in India, with sales up double digits. Cook also confirmed Apple’s plans to expand its retail presence with four new stores in Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR.

Currently, Apple has stores in Mumbai and New Delhi. The first store was opened in April last year in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla complex, followed by a second store in Delhi’s Select Citywalk.

Globally, Apple’s revenue beat Wall Street forecasts, with total sales rising 6.1 percent to $94.9 billion, beating analysts’ expectations of $94.4 billion. dollars.

In China, however, Apple faced difficulties as its revenues fell slightly to $15 billion, impacted by local competition. Nonetheless, iPhone sales increased in all geographies, with Cook attributing the decline in China to the weaker performance of other product lines.

The quarter, which ended on September 28, included the initial sales period of the new iPhone 16 series, which launched on September 20. Initial demand for the iPhone 16 exceeded that of last year’s iPhone 15 during the same period.

Cook also reported high interest in the latest iPhone operating system, with new Apple Intelligence features, with adoption rates twice as high as last year’s version. “The feedback from customers and developers has been exceptional,” he noted, marking a promising start for the new operating system.
