Dr. David Kim, a board-certified dermatologist, addressed the issue of acne scars on the body in an Instagram video. He suggested that one should address the problem of acne scars on the body by preventing further occurrences of acne. The approach focused on prevention is effective in treating the disease at the root.

Dr. Kim shared a holistic routine that covers the entire journey of treating body acne scar hyperpigmentation – from preventing new breakouts to lightening existing scars. This body care routine tackles the problem of acne scars from its nascent stage.

Shower gel

Dr. Kim recommended using a body wash that helps prevent acne growth. He advised using PanOxyl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. body wash. The dermatologist pointed out that this type of body wash can be used even in the absence of acne, as the 10% benzoyl peroxide helps prevent future breakouts.

Brightening serum

While serums are usually applied only to the face, body serum can effectively moisturize and treat acne scars. Dr. Kim said, “Use a brightening serum containing niacinamide, kojic acid, and arbutin to brighten your skin and soften stubborn acne scars.” These ingredients lighten and soften acne scars. He recommended using La Roche-Posay 10% Niacinamide Serum for this.

Exfoliating acid

The dermatologist advised using The Ordinary’s 7% Glycolic Acid Serum or Toner once a week to exfoliate the skin. It improves skin texture. Use it once a week to avoid irritating your skin, as excessive use can lead to sensitivity.

By following this routine, not only will acne scars lighten, but breakouts will become much less frequent. It’s one step at a time towards clearer, healthier skin.
