Thousands in Tbilisi gather again to protest recent parliamentary elections

Thousands of opposition supporters gathered outside the Georgian parliament on November 4 for the second Monday in a row, to protest the October 26 elections, which they say were rigged with Russian help to favor the ruling party, the Georgian Dream.

The demonstrators waved Georgian and European flags, demanding new elections under international supervision and an investigation into allegations of electoral irregularities.

Key opposition figures, such as Badri Japaridze of the Lelo Strong Georgia coalition, have said they will boycott parliament and stage continued protests until their demands are met.

The protests come amid growing dissatisfaction with Georgian dreamwhich critics accuse of authoritarian tendencies and alignment with Moscow to the detriment of European aspirations.
