Tejashwi alleges rise in crime, JD(U) responds by citing RJD's track record

Patna: As election campaign to secure bypolls on four Assembly seats Bihar is gaining momentum, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday intensified his attacks on the decision. NDAalleging that criminal incidents were on the rise in the state.

Later, at a function in Gaya, he accused the NDA government of failing to curb the forces trying to foment communal tension in the state. “Frequent attempts are made to hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community,” Tejashwi alleged, while castigating the CM for not “taking on such forces with an iron fist”.
Reacting sharply to the allegations, the JD(U) reminded Tejashwi of the number of massacres that took place during the RJD regime led by his parents. “Before pointing fingers at us, Tejashwi must know that a total of 118 incidents of massacres took place over the past 15 years RJD regime,” said JD(U) spokesperson Arvind Nishad. He accused the opposition leader of providing false crime data.
Suggesting Tejashwi to introspect before blaming the NDA, Nishad claimed that the RJD government did nothing for the victims of the Bhagalpur communal riots, which took place during the Congress rule.
“It was the Nitish government that compensated the victims of Bhagalpur communal riots and rehabilitated them,” Nishad said, asserting that no incident of communal tension was reported during the government’s 19 years of rule by Nitish Kumar. “Not even a day’s curfew was imposed during the Nitish rule,” he said.
