Residents in several key areas of Noida are expected to experience a 14-hour power outage on Saturday, November 16, as critical maintenance work is planned at a key substation. The outage will affect areas such as sectors 94, 95, 124, 125, 126 and Raipur region, and will last from 10 am to midnight, officials confirmed.

The power cut is among the key improvements under the 2024-2025 business plan of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The maintenance will include replacement of damaged 11kV incoming and outgoing vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) panels at Sector 124 substation.

Harish Bansal, chief engineer of Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) Noida, explained that the work is part of larger efforts to improve the reliability of Noida’s power infrastructure. “The current VCB panels are obsolete and need to be replaced to avoid future failures,” Bansal said. “We encourage consumers to plan their activities accordingly and contact our helpline for assistance.”

The outage, planned over the weekend to minimize disruption, is expected to inconvenience residents who rely on a constant power supply for their daily activities. The affected areas, mainly residential areas, may face difficulties, as noted by the Federation of Noida Residents’ Welfare Associations (FONRWA).

Bansal assured that the extended shutdown was necessary for safety and efficiency reasons due to the complexity of the work. “Once the upgrade is completed, it will significantly improve electricity supply in the region,” he said.

Additionally, UPPCL informed us that its consumer portal (uppclonline.com) will undergo technical upgrades from November 16 at 10 p.m. to November 17 at 4 a.m. During this period, online services, including bill payment and smart meter recharge, will not be available.

Residents are advised to prepare for the outage and take necessary precautions.
