Who reported P’nut the squirrel? Grieving owners have their theory – and it’s rich

P’nut the squirrel was reported by someone – and his upstate owners think it was because of jealousy.

Mark and Daniela Longo told the Post on Sunday that they cashed in on their furry Internet sensation — who helped direct their followers to their raunchy OnlyFans page — before he was arrested at their animal sanctuary and euthanized by the environmental state responsible for rabies fears last week.

The couple’s financial success, fueled at least in part by P’nut, may have been enough to get someone to throw a penny at them — and their fluffy-tailed cash cow, they said.

“Maybe it’s someone who thinks I’m using this place to make a lot of money,” Mark said of his rescue farm.

“Has this done wonders for my OnlyFans? Mark talked about the site, where P’nut frolicked with other animals. “Absolutely. It makes a lot of money.

The Longos said they bought their 350-acre estate near Elmira with the $800,000 they made in one month posting their porn online — and P’nut then began pulling his own weight with his base of separate and family fans.

“I had my own kind of squirrel dad account, my own Instagram,” Mark Longo said. “And I’m the one doing my workouts and most of the time, you know, I don’t have time to create (double) content like I used to.

“I just flagged my squirrel dad’s account from the peanut video I posted so it doubled the number of views of the clip,” he said. “From time to time, a shirtless photo (on P’nut’s page too), but I’ve completely separated myself from all that. Obviously people were going to find the two and try to put them together.

The Longos made headlines after the state Department of Environmental Conservation attacked their spread upstate“P’nuts Freedom Farm”, and caught their adorable furry pet and his buddy, a raccoon named Fred – both creatures were euthanized due to rabies issues due to being in close contact with humans.

Seen by many as victims of overreaching state government, the couple became local heroes.

“This morning at the supermarket I wanted to pick up a few extra copies of the Post,” Longo said, referring to Sunday’s paper whose front-page headline was “Bushy Whacked.”

“When I walked in, (people) recognized my face because I was on the cover of the newspaper. And they just smiled and nodded.

“Last night my wife and I went out to dinner. We were having dinner and the couple next to us looked and said, ‘We’re so sorry for what happened and we want you to know that you have our full support,'” he added. “Everyone was noticing it, and then they were telling us you know they were sorry for what happened with P’nut.”

The squirrel’s death sparked such outrage that it prompted a state lawmaker to propose legislation to improve animal rights laws, calling the bill the “Peanut Act: Act on the humane protection of animals.

“What happened to P’nut was a tragedy,” says Deputy Jake. Blumencranz said on. “As a state legislator and animal rights advocate, this tragedy can be an agent for change. »

P’nut’s death led to calls for excessive government measures from Poles across the country. P.A.

The measure would impose a 72-hour waiting period before a sanctuary animal can be put to sleep and create an appeals system, while giving animal shelters “the right to a fair and humane process.”

P’nut’s death also sparked negative reactions from other Poles.

The spokesperson for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is reportedly considering a run for New York City mayor, trolled Gov. Kathy Hochul on X over her administration’s handling of P’nut.

“When no one runs the store and state agencies are allowed to act with impunity, that’s how things like this happen,” Rep. Rich Azzopardi wrote. “This situation should have happened on someone’s desk
@GovKathyHochul’s office and someone with a brain should have intervened.

Upstate Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro wrote online: “As a pet owner, I sympathize with the Longos and call on Governor (Kathy) Hochul to present an official apology for their ridiculous excess. »

A gofundme.com page for P’nut has raised more than $132,000.

Neither Hochul’s office nor the DEC responded to The Post’s requests for comment Sunday.
