PSL: Sundowns recruit South African winger before Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates

  • Mamelodi Sundowns have beaten off competition from Betway Premiership rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates by signing a South African winger.
  • The talented Mzansi youngster was a transfer target for seven Premier Soccer League clubs before opting to join the Brazilians for an undisclosed fee.
  • The 17-year-old will represent Masandawana’s reserve team for the first time at the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) before being considered for the first team.

Mamelodi sunsets have beaten Premier Soccer League rivals Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and four others thanks to the signing of a talented South African winger.

The Brazilians won the race to sign the youngster despite being the target of six Betway Premiership teams.

Besides the Soweto giants (Pirates and Chiefs), TS Galaxy, Stellenbosch FCSekhukhune United and Cape Town City were all interested in signing the starlet.

Sundowns sign South African winger

According to the report FARPosteMamelodi Sundowns have landed the signing of Mzansi youngster Sechaba Gaseitsiwe from Northern Cape amateur side Galeshewe Stars.

Chiefs Kaizer and Orlando Pirates were reportedly interested in signing the 17-year-old winger after his stellar performance at the 2024 Engen Knockout Champ of Champs tournament.

Despite Kaizer Chiefs By winning the title, he was named the competition’s best striker.

Gaseitsiwe will play for Mamelodi Sundowns’ reserve team competing in the DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC), hoping to impress the Brazilian technical team and earn a place in the seniors.

P Management representative Nduvho Munyai said the teenager was an exceptional talent and praised Galeshewe Stars for developing his footballing abilities.

“This boy has a very special talent, one of the best players in his age group,” he said.

“He is a raw talent who comes from the Northern Cape. Another thing is that he has been placed perfectly in the Galeshewe Stars.”

Manqoba Mngqithi admires Kaizer Chiefs players

In brief News also reported that Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi said he admires two Kaizer Chiefs players following their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final clash.
