Pittsford haunted house raises money for firefighters

PITTSFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – Thousands of people travel to Pittsford every Halloween to experience one of the oldest haunted houses in the city of Pittsford.

The 41st annual fundraiser for the Pittsford Fire Department is one of the most popular and longest running haunted houses in Vermont. People from all over the region are lining up just to be scared with the help of more than 100 volunteers.

The old house near the town office was once a children’s hospital. Today, volunteers continue to ensure this spooky tradition returns and look forward to the bond they create.

“It can be a challenge, but it’s definitely worth it because there are a lot of people I don’t see outside of here even though they still live in town, but you come back the next year and it’s It’s like I’m reunited with family… It’s a really good thing for the community, it’s a good thing for the people who are coming to help us, and we just want to come and scare you,” Kevin said. The final haunted house party will be Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children.
