KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – As storms hit the Kansas City metro area Wednesday evening, several power outages affected areas around the city.

As of 9:30 p.m., Evergy said about 2,700 people were without power, with more than 60 outages affecting the region.

FIRST DAY WEATHER WARNING: Tornado Watch issued until 10 p.m. for Kansas City area

The crews are already in place on the Evergy service area working to restore power to affected customers.

“Ultimately, our crews will work as safely and quickly as possible and our crews will stay overnight until every customer who can safely receive power receives power,” he said. Evergy spokesperson Courtney Lewis told KCTV.

This is a developing story. It will be updated as outage numbers continue throughout the night.
