Strictly’s Shayne Ward explains why he’s particularly ‘gutted’ about quitting

Strictly Come Dance star Shayne Ward explained why he was particularly “gutted” about his departure.

The old Coronation Street the actor and his professional partner Nancy Xu became the seventh couple to come out this year’s series after losing to Wynne Evans And Katya Jones during the ball on Sunday (November 10).

The duo had already survived a dance against Nick Knowles And Luba Mushtuk during the fourth week, and another against Dr Punam Krishan And Gorka Marquez during the sixth week.

During an appearance on It takes two Tonight (November 11), Shayne revealed he would have liked to stay in the competition longer so he could reach his “full potential”.

“I think what disgusts me the most is that yes, I wanted to go to Blackpool for my mother to come see me, but I think, more than anything, I knew that my full potential was not yet reached,” he told the host. Flower East.

“I felt like I had so much more to learn from Nancy, so much more that I wanted to show. That’s the thing I’m going to miss so much.”

“I had a wonderful time, thanks to this beautiful person here (gestures to Nancy). She brought out the best in me,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Nancy explained how Shayne’s acting abilities have “changed” her as a choreographer this year.

“At first, I always think, ‘More dancing, more steps, more technique,’” she said.

“But this year, for some reason, I wanted to celebrate with what we were given – the concept and the story. Shayne is an incredible actor and I can work on that.”

On Saturday, November 11, Shayne and Nancy performed a rumba to Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 hit, “Time After Time.”

After receiving 30 points from the judges, they found themselves at the bottom of the rankings, alongside Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas.

“I was a little conflicted because on some parts I thought you were absolutely exceptional. When you stood still you didn’t really understand the rhythm of the music,” said Shirley Ballas.

“Your leadership skills have improved, your arm style has improved, but what I like, what you’re developing, is the chemistry between the two of you.”

Motsi Mabuse loved the “feel” of the routine, but also criticized Shayne’s lack of timing to the music. “You gave us your best and that counts for something,” she added.

Strictly Come Dance is broadcast on Saturdays on BBC One, while the spin-off Strictly: it takes two is broadcast weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
