Signs indicate safe entry points for dogs into Truro rivers

New signs are appearing along popular city walks to point out safe places for dogs to access rivers.

Truro rangers introduced the signs in a bid to reduce bank erosion and provide dogs and their owners with easier access to waterways in Coosebean Woodland.

They also plan to install signs at Daubuz Moor and Glasteinan Forests.

The team said dogs moving in and out of rivers causes them to scratch materials, causing problems for trails, wildlife and bank stability.

The panels were positioned at easy access points, at shallow points in the rivers.

Owners of dogs using rivers are advised to check for wildlife before allowing their pets to enter the water and to keep them within sight at all times.

The team added: “We thank you for helping to care for these wild spaces and hope you enjoy spending time there as much as we do.”
