In his message, Williams, who spent nearly five months on the ISS, spoke about his Hindu heritage and his father’s efforts to instill cultural traditions. Expressing gratitude for President Biden and Vice President Harris’ participation in the Diwali celebrations, she highlighted the festival’s themes of hope and kindness. This unique greeting coincided with the White House’s Diwali event. Williams, aboard the ISS since June with astronaut Butch Wilmore, will continue his mission work until their return in February 2024.
