CNN’s Van Jones calls Donald Trump’s victory a terrifying ‘nightmare’

CNNIt is Van Jones had a dark and deeply concerned reaction when he realized Donald Trump was close to defeating Kamala Harris and win back the presidency.

The cable news commentator was live on the network’s election coverage panel Tuesday night when he described Trump’s return to power as a “nightmare” and showed particular empathy for black women who supported Harris , as well as for immigrants and trans youth.

“I think of the people who are not part of anyone’s elite and who are suffering tonight,” Jones said.. “There are African American women who know a little bit that they can be put down, and who know a little bit about how their economic dreams are being shattered, and who have been trying to dream a big dream over the last couple of months. And tonight, they trade a lot of hope for a lot of pain. And they hoped that maybe this time, one of their own could be considered worthy. And once again, they face rejection, and it hurts. They thought that tomorrow morning they would walk out with their shoulders a little back, maybe able to breathe for the first time and feel like they belonged somewhere. They’ve done everything they can do, and it’s going to be harder than it should be tomorrow for them to keep their heads up.

Jones continues: “And they’re not the only ones suffering tonight. If you are trans, if you are the parent of a trans child, your child’s face served as a springboard to power for someone, and it doesn’t feel good. There will be people there tomorrow; we are going to give clothes (to immigrants) to the dry cleaner who do not have papers. There are going to be people who are going to brush your teeth tomorrow, who have no papers and who are terrified tonight. So it’s easy to blow this whole thing up: “Oh, look at the elite, they’re going to get their comeuppance.” It is not the elite who will pay the price. These are people who woke up this morning with a dream and go to bed with a nightmare, and these people deserve to be respected and held and talked to. These are the people who will pay the price, whatever happens. Donald Trump decides to do it. »

The rest of the CNN panel remained respectfully silent during Jones’ comments.

Comments come as Hollywood celebrities too react to Trump’s victory. Don’t look for Filmmaker Adam McKay wrote: “Who would have thought he would lie about Biden’s cognitive health for two years, refusing to hold an open convention for a new candidate, never mentioning public health care, and adopting fracking, the Cheneys and a year of child slaughter in Gaza? Wouldn’t that be a winning strategy? Anyone with half a brain. But I thought the liberal thing was to be intelligent? Isn’t that the case? In fact, they blindly applaud the parade of rickety optics wrapped in New York Times What is the modern Dem Party? Well, at least it’s time for the dusty hackers and careerists to spread their feathers after the election and blame Russia and third-party candidates. That should sort things out.

Meanwhile, on The daily showspecial election night, a Jon Stewart visibly frustrated ended with a message of hope and comfort: “I promise you, this is not the end. »

Harris is expected to deliver her concession speech later Wednesday from her alma mater, Howard University.
