What Jeff Brohm said after Louisville Football’s 38-35 loss at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Even with the momentum on their side after beating Clemson, it didn’t stop the Louisville football program from suffering one of its worst losses in program history, losing 38 -35 at Stanford.

“It’s a very disappointing loss, and that’s on me,” head coach Jeff Brohm said. “A lot of stupid things happen throughout the game and they cost us dearly. They actually happened throughout the game, not just at the end. Of course, the two penalties at the end were devastating. But it is my fault.

“We have to have more discipline. We have to make sure these things never happen again. You have to be able to concentrate and stay focused throughout the whole game, to play football and compete, whether things happen good or not. We gave in at the end, and we did some really stupid things. We didn’t deserve to win.

Leading by 14 with just under 10 minutes to play, Stanford scored 17 unanswered points to secure the come-from-behind victory, capped by a 52-yard field goal as time expired. The Cardinals gave up 406 yards to a Cardinal team that was riding a six-game losing streak and committed 13 total penalties, including nine on defense.
