DOHA, November 8. /TASS/. The volume of agricultural trade between Russia and Qatar increased by almost 50% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, Russian Ambassador to Qatar Dmitry Dogadkin said in an interview with the TASS agency.

“Cooperation in the agricultural field is developing dynamically. In the first half of 2024, turnover in this area increased by almost 50% compared to the same period last year,” he said. he noted.

According to the diplomat, Qatar “interests Russian entrepreneurs not only as an end point for delivery of goods, but also as a logistics platform for export to third countries.”

“In this context, cooperation is underway on the North-South international transport corridor project,” he added.

At the end of September, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut announced at an expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Agriculture that exports of Russian agricultural products in 2024 amounted to 74 million tonnes, an increase of 7% over one year. She noted that exports are increasing thanks to the development of new markets in Africa, Asia and the Persian Gulf. In 2023, the volume of agricultural products supplied to foreign markets amounted to $43.5 billion. In total, more than 100 million tonnes of food were exported.
