Beijing/Hong Kong | China’s exports soared in October and its trade surplus soared, according to official data released Thursday, just a day after Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election by promising to impose drastic tariffs on eliminate imports from China.

The central bank also set its official exchange rate against the dollar at its lowest level in a year, a sign that Beijing expects further depreciation pressure on the yuan after Trump’s victory.
