Donald Trump wins Arizona and completes sweep of swing states

Donald Trump won the battleground state of Arizona in the 2024 presidential race, completing his victory over the vice president. Kamala HarrisTHE Associated Press reports.

Trump was declared the winner of Arizona’s 11 electoral votes on Saturday, November 9, bringing his electoral college total to 312. votes compared to Harris’ 226 votes.

Asset had already won the presidency by the time Arizona was called, surpassing the winning threshold of 270 votes when Wisconsin went red early Wednesday morning.

Arizona has been identified as one of seven key states expected to end up with razor-thin margins in the election. Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were also given a leading role in choosing the next president.

Arizona has voted Republican in all but two presidential elections since 1948. Exceptions include 2020, when the increasingly purple state supported the Democrat. Joe Biden against Trump, and earlier in 1996, when he finally chose the incumbent Democrat Bill Clinton against the Republicans Bob Dolé.

According to BallotopediaArizona has voted for the winning candidate 78.6% of the time since its initial creation as a state. Since 2000, he has voted for the winning candidate in 66.7% of cases.

Arizona is split almost evenly between Republicans, Democrats and third-party or undeclared voters, according to a July report. statistical — they represent respectively 36%, 29% and 35% of the votes.
