Dua Lipa – Radical Optimism Tour

Singapore Indoor Stadium
November 5

The words “training season is over” appeared on screen as British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa took the stage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 5 to launch her Radical Optimism tour.

These are the lyrics to the first song in his set list, Training Season – from his third album Radical Optimism (2024).

But, as the 29-year-old demonstrated over the next 105 minutes, they also fight the words she cares about.

She has had a busy summer season headlining festivals, including Glastonbury in June, and performing independent concerts, such as a rented orchestral ensemble at London’s Royal Albert Hall in mid-October.

But she showed no signs of fatigue as she danced and sang 21 songs from her three studio albums, including Dua Lipa (2017) and Future Nostalgia (2020).

She is giving a second concert on November 6 and Singapore is the first stop on her world tour which will end in October 2025.

There were no built-in viral moments or elaborate stage sets, like concertgoers might have seen at other “pop girlies” concerts over the past couple of years. Instead, the focus was on throwing a fun and surprisingly family-friendly rave party featuring Lipa’s most popular and infectious dance hits, from New Rules to Levitating.

Only one track, Anything For Love by Radical Optimism, was played as a slow ballad.

The only other slower moments of the evening came from about four costume changes – all variations on shiny black outfits that showed off Lipa’s enviably long legs and toned figure – and occasional chat breaks for she presents songs or chats with her fans.

The singer included some audio clips from classic Jane Fonda Workout videos from the 1980s to properly warm up the audience of 10,000 before the show began at 8:20 p.m.

“We haven’t been back here since 2018,” she noted, apologizing to the crowd for not being able to bring her 2022 Future Nostalgia tour to Singapore due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She performed a solo concert at the Star Theater in 2018 and was also part of the entertainment lineup for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix that year.
