A canister of ammunition was found on an Air India flight from Dubai to Delhi, amid a series of fraudulent bomb threats affecting flights and airports across India.

A round of ammunition was found in a seat pocket on an Air India flight from Dubai to Delhi on October 27. A complaint was subsequently filed in connection with this matter with the airport police.

Confirming the incident, an airline spokesperson said: “A round of ammunition was found in a seat pocket of our flight AI916 after it landed from Dubai to Delhi on October 27, 2024 and all the passengers disembarked safely.”

“A complaint was immediately lodged with the airport police by Air India, which strictly adheres to established security protocols,” the spokesperson added.

This comes amid a wave of bomb threats against several flights, airports and other establishments across the country in recent days.

On October 30, a message claiming that a bomb had been planted on the Air India flight from Delhi to Mumbai via Indore was posted on a social media platform, which was later revealed to be a hoax.

Later, Madhya Pradesh’s Indore police registered a case in this regard against an unidentified person.

Over the past two weeks, more than 510 domestic and international flights have been the subject of bomb threats that later turned out to be hoaxes, causing significant operational and financial difficulties for airlines.

Most of the threats were made via social media.
