MGP driver banned “to get his racing license reinstated”

Alex Sinclair fights to prove his innocence since his exclusion

A motorcycle driver banned from this year’s Manx Grand Prix he was told he could have his racing license reinstated.

Alex Sinclair has been trying to prove his innocence since he was kicked out of the reunion in August after testing positive for a “recreational drug.”

Since then, Auto Cycle Union Ltd.These are therefore “recognized” concerns raised by the driver regarding the testing process and he is “more than willing” to restore his racing credentials.

Meanwhile, the pilot hopes the situation he found himself in can help pave the way for changes “across the board” in the future:

At the 2024 Manx Grand Prix, race organizers ACU Events Ltd. (ACUE) released a statement on August 20 indicating that Mr. Sinclair had been excluded from the remainder of the meeting following a “positive test for a recreational drug.”

This was then corrected several hours later to indicate that the pilot had in fact returned a “non-negative” test result.

Another update followed on August 28, with the organization saying the results of a confirmatory laboratory analysis were “consistent with misuse of a controlled drug.”

Mr Sinclair has since taken personal steps – including an independent hair test which Sinclair says returned a negative result – to challenge the decision while raising concerns about how the initial process was conducted.

A letter seen by Manx Radio to Mr Sinclair’s team at the ACU said the concerns had been raised following a review of the testing process followed by the rider.

Furthermore, he adds that another form of testing will be used in the future, that the organization is “more than willing” to reinstate the pilot’s license and that it is “happy to bear the cost of the test that M . Sinclair came by to remedy the problem.”

The letter reads:

“I am writing to you regarding the recent situation surrounding the suspension of Mr. Sinclair’s license and the drug testing that took place. “In Mr. Sinclair’s case, the decision to suspend his license was made following the results of his drug test. I would like to clarify that Mr. Sinclair was not singled out. We have clear and established procedures in place that apply to all competitors equally. Our goal is always to maintain a fair and competitive environment where the well-being of each rider is a priority.

“Following a review of the testing process used for Mr. Sinclair’s testing, we acknowledge the concerns raised regarding the procedures in place at this site. As a result, we have decided to use a different form of testing in the future to ensure that the testing process is as reliable and accurate as possible. In cases where test results are disputed or further investigation is deemed necessary, we generally perform additional testing. However, Mr. Sinclair did not raise any concerns with us regarding the testing procedure. time, and if he had, we would have taken appropriate steps to investigate further.

“In the interest of fairness and resolution, we are more than willing to reinstate Mr. Sinclair’s license.” We also understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused and as such we are happy to bear the cost of the test Mr Sinclair took. to remedy this problem.
