Chalobah talks about Palais’ first goal – News

The on-loan defender took full advantage of a mix-up at the back for Wolves to give Palace the lead just after the hour mark, sparking a quick exchange of goals that ultimately saw the points shared after a 2-2 draw. 2.

Describing his first strike at Palace, Chalobah explained: “I saw the gap was there, and I knew the goalkeeper was on the other side – so I just had to keep it as low as possible and get good contact.”

In the context of his team’s overall performance – Palace finished a busy week with three matches unbeaten – he added: “It was a tough week for us – three games in a week – but I thought the boys really got worked hard and showed our levels in all matches.

“The game against Tottenham (1-0 win) helped build our confidence going into (Aston) Villa, always a place to go. We won (2-1) and we should have done a little better today, but it’s better than a defeat.

“We had a lot of chances to kill the game and obviously in these type of games, when you don’t kill the game, they will have chances. We let them in – my mistake, which I will learn from myself – and we’ll draw lots and do it again next week.

Four points from the week saw Palace move closer to the body of teams sitting in mid-table, with Chalobah outlining his side’s progress through the opening 10 games of the Championship season.

He admitted: “It’s been a tough start for us. I feel like we’ve played well in most of the games we’ve played this season, but we just haven’t had that end product in terms of goals, but I think it’s starting to come and we let’s start believing in it.

“We have a few injuries as well, but the boys are settling in well and the players coming in are doing well.

“I think we all know the manager’s idea and the way he wants to play, and we are all on the same path. “
