5 PS5 Pro Enhanced games you need to play first

THE PS5 Pro has arrived, providing the best possible gaming experience on many best PS5 games. Actually, Sony confirmed more than 50 games which are PS5 Pro Enhanced from day one (i.e. launch day, November 7). These PS5 titles have each been boosted by the extra power of the Pro. This could be a framerate increase, a resolution increase, or even new ray tracing features thanks to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

With so many PS5 Pro Enhanced games already confirmed (and the list is growing quickly), you might have a hard time deciding which one to play first on your brand new PlayStation console. I was lucky enough to get access to the PS5 Pro a little early and went through the list of PS5 Pro Enhanced titles. While I’ve generally been impressed with (almost) every game I’ve tried on PS5 Pro, these are the five that have impressed me the most.

Before diving into my picks, I’ll note that these are the games that I think best showcase the extra power of the PS5 Pro – not necessarily my favorite PS5 Pro Enhanced games. But, by happy coincidence, all five are also pretty fantastic experiences.

The souls of demons

Bluepoint Games’ stunning remake of FromSoftware’s cult classic The souls of demons was the best showcase of the power of the base PS5 at launch, and four years later it remains a technical problem. wonder it now looks even better on the PS5 Pro.

One of the main reasons to try Demon’s Souls first on the PS5 Pro is that you get the resolution boost of the PS5’s Fidelity mode, but at 60fps instead of the previous cap of 30fps. In a challenging game like Demon’s Souls, where every frame counts, playing in Performance mode was almost a requirement. The new Pro mode, which offers the best of both worlds, is therefore the opportunity to see Boletaria at its most visually striking, but without having to do so. pay the price of a reduced framerate.

Alan wakes up 2

Alan wakes up 2 was already a highly cinematic experience with several sequences that looked pretty darn photorealistic, especially if you were playing this game on an OLED TV where the blacks could get very dark.

It’s fair to say that Alan Wake 2 didn’t really need an image quality boost, but it’s the perfect title to showcase the PS5 Pro’s ray tracing capabilities. Head to the Oh Deer Diner in the Bright Falls town portion of the game, and you’ll find yourself wasting several minutes just walking past the windows, gaping at the realistic reflections.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Speaking of the PS5 Pro’s ray tracing features, at times Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This superhero sequel is one of the best PS5 exclusives, and Insomniac’s dev wizards had already squeezed seemingly every bit of power out of the base PS5. So they took advantage of the PS5 Pro’s extra oomph to make every reflective surface of the game’s New York maps – and there are an awful lot of glass-wrapped skyscrapers here – more accurately reflect the world around them. Plus, thanks to the PS5 Pro, we finally have the reflective puddles we were promised back in 2017.

Spider-Man 2 was already a game I returned to often just to browse the web in New York, and thanks to the PS5 Pro, virtual visits like Spidey were never appealing.

The Last of Us Part I

The Last of Us Part I (or, alternatively, The Last of Us Part II Remastered) is a great game to choose to see the improvement in image quality made possible by the PS5 Pro. In my first testing session with the Pro, I selected the Bill’s Town section of the game and spent nearly 30 minutes aiming my gun sight and spotting all the places where the textures had gone from slightly blurry on the standard laser PS5. net on the PS5 Pro. This was especially visible on the invasive flora that came through the cracks in the concrete sidewalks.

Of course, the only problem with tapping into The last of us The first part, experiencing the glorious enhanced 4K quality (a feat offered by PSSR), and returning to this world, will make you want to play the entire game again.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered

The recently released Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered is a surprisingly fantastic redux of one of the best PS4 games. Probably bordering on a complete remake (rather than a simple remaster), Horizon Zero Dawn has never looked better, whether you’re playing on PS5 Pro or a base PS5 model.

Although I only briefly returned to the game’s future land that has been reclaimed by nature and overrun by robotic creatures, it offers some stunning vistas that allow you to see the PS5 Pro’s extra power being put to use at wisely. It also has some of the best lighting effects I’ve ever seen on PS5 Pro.
