Man caught appearing for physical examination on behalf of another candidate during police recruitment for ₹3.5 Lakh in Morena

Morena (Madhya Pradesh): An impostor was arrested on Wednesday while taking a police recruitment exam in the name of another candidate in Morena, Madhya Pradesh. He was paid Rs 3.5 lakh to appear for the physical test of candidate Durgesh Jatav.

However, discrepancies between the admit card photo and the candidate’s appearance aroused suspicion, leading the team to question him. During his interrogation, it turned out that he was posing as the real candidate.

The recruitment process was underway at the SAF Ground in the district.

According to reports, on the morning of the incident, physical tests began as usual at 5 am. Among the candidates was a man who was allegedly paid ₹3.5 lakh to appear for the physical examination in the name of Durgesh Jatav of Chinona Chambal police station. The man, identified as Rinku Jatav from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested during document verification when the photo on the admit card did not match his appearance.

When questioned, Rinku hesitated to provide details about his identity and his village, thus raising further doubts. After stricter interrogation, he confessed that he had been hired for ₹3.5 lakh to take the test.

The police registered a case against the accused under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC and initiated an investigation. Authorities believe further interrogation could reveal a larger network involved in such fraudulent activities.

For the past month, physical tests for police recruitment have been underway on the grounds of the 5th SAF battalion. To ensure a smooth and fair process, a DIG, a Superintendent of Police, two additional SPs and a large police force were deployed at the site under the direction of the PHQ.

Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh confirmed the arrest, saying the recruitment process is taking place under the supervision of the PHQ and strict measures are in place to prevent irregularities.
