Rishab Shetty fans are in for some exciting news as the much-awaited ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’, written, directed and directed by Rishab himself, is gearing up for its grand theatrical release next year on October 2 . the prequel to the famous “Kantara”, which has already won a prestigious national award.

The filmmakers revealed the release date with a striking poster on Instagram. The artwork features Rishab Shetty in a fierce depiction, holding an ax in one hand and a trident in the other.

Sporting a shirtless look with flowing hair and a rugged beard, Rishab Shetty exudes an aura of pure dominance and mystique in the poster. The accompanying caption stated: “The time has come. The divine forest whispers. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ will be released worldwide on October 2, 2025.”

The prequel is expected to hit theaters in multiple languages ​​including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Hindi and English.

Rishab Shetty received the coveted Best Actor title at the 70th National Film Awards for his outstanding performance in the first installment of the series ‘Kantara’. In addition to its accolades, the film was also recognized as the best film providing wholesome entertainment, cementing its place as a cinematic triumph.





In August, Rishab Shetty shared his sincere gratitude for receiving the national award. Reflecting on this milestone, he said, “This recognition for ‘Kantara’ fills me with immense joy and gratitude. I dedicate this award with deep respect to our Kannada audience, to the Daiva Nartakas and to the late Appu sir this achievement is a blessing from the Daivas, and I remain eternally grateful for their guidance,” he shared.

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, ‘Kantara’, released in 2022, tells a thrilling story rooted in tradition and conflict. The film follows a Kambala champion, played by Rishab Shetty, as he finds himself in a gripping face-off with a forest office.

The film features an exceptional cast, including Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and Prakash Thuminad, among others.

For audiences who missed its theatrical release, “Kantara” is available for streaming on Netflix and Prime Video.
