Election day is almost hereand while most people’s main goal will be to get to their polling place and vote, many people will also try to avoid regular daily errands, like going to the dry cleaners or going to the bank.

While Election Day is not a federal holidaysome states observe it as a public holiday. Most state offices will be closed that day, and 24 state offices, as well as the District of Columbia, are offering paid time off to vote. Other states offer time off to vote, but without pay.

Although the day is not a federal holiday, many people wonder if banks, post offices and shipping services will be open on Election Day. Here’s what we know.

Are banks open on election day?

Branches of Bank of America, Truist, PNC, Capital One, Wells Fargo and other banks will be open regular hours on Tuesday, November 5.

Other banking services, such as ATMs and online banking, should also be available as usual on Election Day.

Is the post office open on election day? Will the mail be delivered?

Yes, post offices will be open and mail will be delivered on Tuesday, as Election Day is not a federal holiday.

Are shipping services, like UPS and FedEx, open on Election Day?

Yes, UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will be available on Election Day, and their stores will also be open.
