Schools race against time to submit assessments or risk zero grades

More than 200 students from 33 schools participating in the new junior secondary curriculum are at risk of receiving zero scores in their O-level exams. This is due to missing the deadline for submitting continuous assessments, which was due be set for October 30, 2024.

Under the new curriculum, schools are required to assess Senior One students, with these ongoing assessments contributing 20% to the final grade. The remaining 80% is determined by the UNEB final exams.

UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo stressed the urgency of the situation, urging the 33 affected schools to submit the required assessments by Friday. Failure to do so will have serious consequences on students’ academic performance.
