Outer Banks Season 4 Volume 2 Just Debuted, But I Already Have Theories About Season 5

Warning: major spoilers ahead for Outer Banks Season 4, volume 2!

Like a massive Outer Banks fan, I knew season 4 volume 2 would be a wild ride when it arrived Netflix premiere schedule After Volume 1 is out from the Pogues in some of the worst places they’ve ever been. I had a high hopes for the next five episodesbut unfortunately, I didn’t see anything that I wanted happening. Instead, the Pogues lost one of their own in one of the most tragic deaths in all of teen drama, leaving the group of friends vowing revenge as the credits began to roll.

Even though I’m still trying to understand everything that happened, my mind has already started to theorize about what will happen in the future. season 5 already renewed.

The Pogues will have doubts about how to avenge JJ

After losing JJ to hands of his biological father GroffThe Pogues and Rafe can be seen burying JJ’s body in an unmarked grave in the Moroccan desert. It’s Rafe who speaks first, telling the group that if it was his friend who had just been killed, he would take revenge on the murderer. John B and Pope agree, and the season ends with Kie promising revenge on Groff.

In the heat of the moment, this plan takes on its full meaning. The Pogues are devastated by this loss, and the most logical way to overcome this grief is to lash out at the man who caused them this pain. However, even though they hate Groff, none of them are killers per se.

Season 4 showed us time and time again that John B. had a hard time pulling the trigger because he is afraid of becoming her father. And sure, Pope may have killed Lighting in the last episode, but it’s clear afterward that it wasn’t a decision he felt good about, even if it meant everything to Cleo.

Kie doesn’t have the heart of a killer either, and while I think she’ll be close to killing Groff, I don’t think she’ll pull the trigger. In fact, I think JJ’s voice will appear in his head, and he will talk her out of it because he never wanted anyone to endanger their life at his expense.

Ultimately, I don’t see the Pogues murdering Groff because it goes against everything they stand for. However, the same cannot be said for Rafe. Given his desire to get the Pogues to trust him and his on-again, off-again dynamic with Kie, he could be the one to save the day by giving the Pogues what they want without causing them to descend to such malicious levels.

Without the OG Pogues, life in Kildare will get worse

Tensions between the Kooks and the Pogues reached an all-time high in Kildare as the Kooks sought to rezone The Cut and make it a space where they could all live and hang out. John B and the gang may be young adults, but they’ve always been at the center of defending the Pogues and what’s rightfully theirs. With them gone for who knows how long, there is no one to stand up to similar real estate developers and protect the land.

There is also clearly tension between the Kooks and the police department led by Sheriff Shoupe. With Shoupe already on ice when it comes to the town’s wealthy residents, it’s likely he’ll lose his job when they learn he let the Pogues go instead of arresting them.

With the position open, I can see the town electing the officer who tried to shoot JJ in episode 6 to get the sheriff job since he clearly sides with the Kooks. A corrupt police department and Kooks with unchecked power seem to be a recipe for disaster.

A new group dynamic will emerge as they hunt down Groff

With JJ gone and Sarah pregnant, the Pogues will likely see a change in their group dynamic. Even though Sarah has spent much of this season risking her life and the lives of her babies to retrieve the treasure, I don’t see that trend continuing once she starts showing up. John B is going to be torn between wanting to go after Groff and wanting to be there for Sarah. In the end, I see the best couple in the series spending much of the final season apart so John B could get revenge and Sarah could be safe.

It’s unlikely the Pogues would want to leave Sarah alone where they decide it’s safe enough for her. While Kie stepped in to protect and remind Sarah that she was pregnant this season, she’s going to be too full of rage and grief to stay away while the boys track down Groff. Instead, I see Cleo sit in the back and stay with Sarah since she’s also going to be recovering from a gunshot wound to her arm.

This leaves the three remaining Pogues and Rafe to seek their revenge. I think John B, Pope, and Kie will stay together for most of the final season; Rafe will work his way into the group through Kie as they have the most civil relationship. This will likely cause tension between the four as they have different approaches to tracking down Groff and seeking revenge. Not to mention that John B and Pope might be worried about how close Kie and Rafe might get given that she was in a difficult situation. relationship with JJ when he died.

The show will happily end with a time jump years into the future

Whether or not the Pogues manage to find the Blue Crown and fulfill the wish promised in artifact lore remains to be seen. Whether or not they become financially wealthy, I think Outer Banks will end on a happy note.

Unlike Season 3, which only jumped a few months into the future, I predict that Season 5 will end with a time jump that sends us several years into the future. It may be cliché, but I think we’ll have a scene with a adult, John Breading a story to his child before going to bed, except that he is not reading a book but rather telling his child everythinghe experienced life and death adventures with the Pogues. Just like his father did with him, John B. will instill a sense of adventure in his child. Maybe that’ll be what the rumor says OBX the spin-off will be topical.

It is unknown if season 5 will appear on the TV schedule 2025 or laterbut I hope we don’t have to wait too long to see how the Pogues’ stories end. For now, you can rewatch the first four seasons with a Netflix subscription.
